Staff Software Engineer, Messaging Experience in USA new

Responsibilities

  • Partner on the division’s technical vision, architectural direction, best practices, and technical quality standards.
  • Lead large, ambiguous projects across multiple teams from problem framing and design through implementation, rollout, and operational support.
  • Evolve messaging-channel stacks and foundational primitives to support sophisticated marketing use cases.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, architecture reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
  • Improve reliability, observability, error handling, incremental rollout practices, and incident reduction across dashboard and delivery layers.
  • Design and build foundational systems, shared frameworks, platforms, and code-generation tooling.

Requirements

  • Have 7+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful technical leadership across multiple teams or complex product systems.
  • Have experience building scalable foundational backend systems and complex, performant web-based user interfaces.
  • Have experience with Ruby on Rails and proficiency in TypeScript and React.
  • Have designed and shipped frameworks, libraries, or platform services used by other engineers.
  • Demonstrate strong architectural judgment, communication, mentoring, consensus-building, and execution in ambiguous environments.
  • Preferred experience includes shared component libraries or design systems, real-time or event-driven architectures, developer experience tooling, code generation, scaffolding, CI/CD for large codebases, and scaling products from early stage to enterprise scale.

Salary: $184k - $300k/yr
