Staff Software Engineer, Messaging Experience in Canada new

Responsibilities

  • Partner on the technical vision, architecture, best practices, and quality standards for the division.
  • Lead large, ambiguous projects across multiple teams from problem framing and design through implementation, rollout, and operational support.
  • Build and evolve shared orchestration frameworks, messaging-channel primitives, dashboard capabilities, and code-generation or developer-experience tooling.
  • Improve reliability, observability, error handling, rollout practices, and operational performance across dashboard and delivery layers.
  • Mentor engineers through coaching, code reviews, architecture reviews, and pairing while connecting technical decisions to business outcomes.
  • Design and implement foundational backend systems, frameworks, and services used by other engineers.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful technical leadership across multiple teams or complex product systems.
  • Experience building foundational backend systems at scale and complex, performant web-based user interfaces.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails and proficiency in TypeScript and React.
  • Experience designing and shipping foundational infrastructure, frameworks, libraries, or platform services used by many engineers.
  • Strong architectural judgment, communication, mentoring, consensus-building, and execution skills in ambiguous environments.
  • Preferred experience with shared component libraries or design systems, real-time or event-driven architectures, developer-experience tooling, code generation, scaffolding, CI/CD for large codebases, and scaling products from early stage to enterprise scale.
