Staff Software Engineer, Messaging Experience in USA new

Responsibilities

  • Partner on the technical vision, architecture, quality standards, and technical-debt strategy for the division.
  • Lead large, ambiguous projects across multiple teams from problem framing and design through implementation, rollout, and operational support.
  • Build and evolve foundational backend systems, frameworks, infrastructure, and code-generation tooling for messaging orchestration.
  • Develop complex customer-facing web interfaces and shared components for configuring, launching, testing, and analyzing user journeys.
  • Improve observability, error handling, incremental rollouts, reliability, and operability across dashboard and delivery layers.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance through code reviews, architecture reviews, pairing, and clear technical vision.
  • Collaborate with engineering managers, technical leads, and senior leadership on consistent, high-quality experiences across messaging channels.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful technical leadership across multiple teams or complex product systems.
  • Experience building foundational backend systems at scale and complex, performant web-based user interfaces.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails and proficiency in TypeScript and React.
  • Experience designing and shipping frameworks, libraries, or platform services used by other engineers.
  • Strong architectural judgment and the ability to make technical decisions for a maturing product suite.
  • Strong communication, mentoring, consensus-building, and project execution skills in ambiguous environments.
  • Preferred experience with shared component libraries, design-system primitives, real-time systems, event-driven architectures, developer-experience tooling, code generation, scaffolding, CI/CD for large codebases, or enterprise-scale product maturation.
