Develop low-level software that configures and drives processor peripherals and avionics communication interfaces.
Write and debug device drivers for spacecraft sensors, actuators, and other bus components.
Implement onboard algorithms, including closed-loop control and fault detection and response for failures such as sensor faults and radiation upsets.
Develop rapid bench and development-test code as well as reviewed, tested software for manufacturing and flight.
Provide embedded software input to new spacecraft system and hardware designs.
Support spacecraft commissioning during launch and early operations and maintain software functionality during critical operations.
Requirements
U.S. Person status is required, or the candidate must be able to obtain required export authorizations for access to export-controlled data.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
At least 3 years of experience writing C/C++ for embedded systems.
Experience developing firmware for microcontrollers using bare-metal development or an RTOS.
Experience writing and debugging low-level device drivers over SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, and CAN.
Experience with hardware/software integration, including reading schematics and using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
Understanding of microcontroller and microprocessor architecture, including memory, buses, and DMA.
Preferred qualifications include 8+ years of embedded C/C++ experience, 3+ years of flight software experience, FPGA development, avionics or flight-hardware bring-up, satellite attitude control systems, motors and power electronics, feedback sensors, and CCSDS or ECSS protocols.
