Senior Fullstack Software Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture and rollout strategy for critical platform services, including large-scale migrations.
  • Design, publish, and maintain customer-facing APIs with strong contracts, versioning, authentication, reliability, security, and developer experience.
  • Connect services across Vanta’s platform and partner with data-platform teams on access patterns and service boundaries.
  • Drive RFCs and decision records to document and preserve architectural decisions.
  • Mentor engineers, expand review capacity, and partner with the engineering manager on team health and culture.
  • Build backend systems with TypeScript and Node.js and contribute to customer-facing React experiences.
  • Use AI tools responsibly to improve development workflows and engineering impact.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of backend development experience building reliable, scalable, fault-tolerant systems.
  • Experience designing and shipping external or public product APIs, including contracts, versioning, authentication, and developer experience.
  • Strong system design and service-boundary thinking with sufficient data-layer fluency to partner with platform teams.
  • Comfort working in a modern React frontend codebase and building products end to end.
  • Track record completing complex, ambiguous, multi-quarter initiatives directly and through others.
  • Experience safely rolling out or deprecating major systems at scale.
  • Strong written design communication and demonstrated mentorship.
  • Willingness to learn and apply AI responsibly with sound judgment.
  • Bonus: experience in startup or bias-for-action environments, MongoDB at scale, or security and compliance products.
  • Must reside in and perform all work exclusively from within the United States.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
