CERN

CERN is the European Organization for Nuclear Research, an intergovernmental, nonprofit laboratory headquartered in Meyrin, Switzerland (founded 1954). It designs, builds, and operates particle accelerators and detectors—most notably the Large Hadron Collider—and provides large-scale computing and data services for a worldwide physics community. Funded by its European Member States, CERN hosts thousands of visiting researchers and engineers and develops technologies ranging from control systems to identity and access management used across its experiments.
