Staff+ Software Engineer, Safeguards Data in USA new

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate Safeguards data platforms, including ingestion and processing pipelines, warehouses, data stores, schemas, and interfaces.
  • Maintain day-to-day operation of Safeguards systems while reducing manual operational effort.
  • Own data governance and integrity, including retention, access controls, privacy-preserving handling, lineage, and correctness guarantees.
  • Design portable systems across AWS, GCP, Azure, customer-managed environments, and third-party environments.
  • Partner with analysts, investigators, researchers, and operational teams to build internal tooling.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Experience building and operating data pipelines or data stores in production.
  • Ability to work across ingestion, storage, and consumption layers of the data stack.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical tradeoffs to non-specialists.
  • Extensive software engineering experience with significant time spent on data-intensive systems is preferred.
  • Experience with integrity, spam, fraud, or abuse detection and mitigation is preferred.
  • Experience building trust-and-safety detection and intervention mechanisms for AI or machine learning systems is preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed data infrastructure is preferred.
  • Experience across multiple cloud providers or with provider-agnostic infrastructure is preferred.
  • Experience meeting data governance requirements in regulated or high-sensitivity domains is preferred.
  • Experience building custom internal tooling with operational teams is preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience is required in a relevant field demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Benefits

  • Annual compensation is listed as $320,000–$485,000 USD.
  • Hybrid policy currently expects staff to work from an office at least 25% of the time, with some roles requiring more office time.
  • Visa sponsorship is available for some roles, with immigration-lawyer support.
