Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate reliable, scalable distributed systems supporting Sentry’s products and engineering teams.
Own complex technical projects from identifying problems and defining solutions through implementation, deployment, and production operations.
Solve problems involving architecture, performance, scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Make architectural decisions and evaluate tradeoffs involving performance, complexity, maintainability, and scalability.
Contribute hands-on production-quality code, review designs, and resolve complex technical issues.
Influence technical direction, establish engineering standards, and drive improvements across engineering teams.
Share technical knowledge, mentor engineers, and strengthen engineering practices across the organization.

Requirements

8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong background designing, building, and operating distributed systems or infrastructure.
Strong software engineering fundamentals and proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, Java, or a comparable language.
Experience designing and implementing technically complex systems with meaningful engineering outcomes.
Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Ability to independently own complex projects, navigate ambiguity, and drive solutions from design through production.
Deep technical experience in one or more areas including cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, data infrastructure, infrastructure reliability, or developer infrastructure.
Experience with relevant infrastructure technologies or domains such as Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka, distributed storage, databases, observability, performance optimization, incident response, or internal developer platforms.
Strong architectural judgment and the ability to design for reliability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts, collaborate effectively, and influence engineering decisions across teams.
Experience improving engineering practices, sharing technical knowledge, or helping other engineers grow.

Benefits

Base salary range of $240,000 to $400,000 plus an annual performance bonus of up to 15% of base salary.
Eligibility for employee benefit plans including incentive compensation, equity grants, paid time off, and group health insurance coverage.
