Staff Software Engineer, HR Experience in USA new

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain full-stack features for the HR Experience product surface.
  • Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code across frontend, backend, and data layers.
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, retrospectives, and cross-functional technical planning.
  • Own projects end to end, including scoping, technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Monitor and improve the reliability, performance, and quality of shipped features.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and lead incident response for owned systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and code-review mentorship to less-tenured engineers.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including full-stack work.
  • Ability to independently design, build, and ship features spanning frontend, backend, and data layers.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language or framework, such as Ruby on Rails, Node.js, or Python/Django.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one modern frontend framework, such as React or TypeScript.
  • Understanding of relational database schema design, migrations, and query performance.
  • Experience owning projects from scoping and technical design through deployment and monitoring.
  • Strong grounding in data structures, algorithms, automated testing, and CI/CD.
  • Experience partnering with product managers, designers, and engineers, with clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred experience in HR technology, payroll, or fintech.
  • Preferred experience designing REST or GraphQL APIs.
  • Preferred exposure to accessibility best practices.

Salary: $197k - $247k/yr
