Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and ownership for platform architecture, data ingestion, and normalization supporting a scalable search experience.
  • Define and lead complex technical projects across the entire software stack.
  • Establish reliability KPIs, accountability for service health, and architectural improvements that reduce technical debt, manual toil, and infrastructure costs.
  • Adopt and operationalize software patterns involving AI, data pipelines, telemetry systems, and workflow automation.
  • Develop well-tested, modular, reusable, fault-tolerant, scalable, and highly available software.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to identify and deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Recruit, mentor, and inspire fellow engineers.
  • Champion operational excellence and modern engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of experience developing comprehensive, well-tested, high-performance software applications using TypeScript, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS.
  • 5+ years of experience with React and Node.js.
  • 3+ years of experience using AWS or other cloud technologies.
  • Track record of technical leadership and cross-team impact.
  • Strong understanding of software development and architecture best practices, including evolving AI technologies.
  • Strong design sensibility, attention to detail, critical thinking, communication skills, and focus on operational excellence.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and delivery pipelines, containerization, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Preferred experience with backend programming in Java, Golang, or Python.
  • Preferred experience with Kafka, event-driven systems, gRPC, Thrift, and other server-to-server communication protocols.

  • Base pay range of $228,000-$240,000, with possible bonuses and restricted stock units excluded from the base pay range.
