Staff Software Engineer, Developer Ecosystem in USA

Responsibilities

  • Build and evolve core platform services and capabilities powering the developer experience.
  • Create features that help external developers build applications on Reddit.
  • Lead major technical initiatives from exploration and design through delivery and launch.
  • Work across backend, infrastructure, client, and full-stack components.
  • Contribute throughout the development cycle, including development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
  • Review code, design documents, product specifications, and user experiences.
  • Shape team strategy and the future direction of the developer platform.
  • Share knowledge, mentor teammates, and contribute to a culture of ownership.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of industry experience with platform functionality, developer tools, full-stack products, or app platforms.
  • Experience leading large-scale technical projects from design through delivery.
  • Strong backend or platform engineering experience with the ability to work across the stack.
  • Familiarity with C++, Java, Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, or React.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve productivity and software quality.
  • A track record of mentoring engineers and improving software engineering practices.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-directed, curious, and comfortable working with ambiguity.
  • Open-source contributions are a bonus.
  • Experience building Reddit apps with the Devvit platform is a bonus.

Salary: $217k - $304k/yr
