Staff Software Engineer, Data Engineering in USA new

Responsibilities

  • Own critical data systems supporting multiple products and teams.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for data infrastructure and automation.
  • Design and implement large-scale, high-volume data models and pipelines for data lakes and data warehouses.
  • Improve the reliability and scalability of ingestion, data processing, ETL, reporting, and data ecosystem services.
  • Manage a portfolio of high-quality, trustworthy data products.
  • Serve as a technical lead and help architect and scale data infrastructure.
  • Onboard and support engineers joining the team.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience as a hands-on engineer and technical leader leading multiple projects.
  • 6+ years of experience in data platforms, data engineering, or a similar role.
  • Proficiency using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in Python, Kotlin, or Scala.
  • 4+ years of experience with ETL orchestration and workflow management tools such as Airflow.
  • Expertise in database fundamentals, SQL, data reliability practices, and distributed computing.
  • 4+ years of experience with distributed data ecosystems such as Spark and Presto, and streaming technologies such as Kaa, Flink, or Spark Streaming.
  • Strong communication skills, experience working with technical and non-technical teams, and knowledge of reporting tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as a self-starter who can self-organize.
  • Ability to think strategically and analyze and interpret market and consumer information.
  • Must be located near one of DoorDash’s engineering hubs.

Salary: $174k - $257k/yr
