Responsibilities

Own the architecture and long-term design of systems that run coding agents, including pull-request services, sandboxes, remote development environments, and integrations with Linear, GitHub, Claude, and Cursor.
Own and improve the complete developer workflow from ticket creation through merged, tested code.
Operate developer tooling as production infrastructure with monitoring, uptime targets, SLAs, and incident accountability.
Track and optimize the costs of agent runs and development environments.
Set standards for design reviews, testing, operational readiness, and code quality.
Represent the team across engineering, support cross-team planning and prioritization, and shape the technical roadmap.
Mentor engineers on the team and across the organization.

Requirements

Extensive experience designing, building, and operating distributed backend systems in production at scale.
Experience owning developer tools, CI/CD systems, or internal platforms used by other engineering teams and hundreds of engineers, with design decisions spanning multiple teams.
Hands-on experience building with large language models and coding agents, including providing tools, evaluating output, and tracking behavior and cost.
Experience operating services with uptime targets, including defining SLAs, monitoring and alerting, and incident ownership.
Demonstrated judgment in performance and cost tradeoffs, including reducing operating costs without reducing system quality.
Experience mentoring engineers and improving team capabilities across an organization.
Strong communication skills and the ability to align disparate groups.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
Advanced understanding of Kotlin is preferred.
Working knowledge of Python is preferred.
Experience running workloads across multiple cloud providers is preferred.

Benefits

Canada base salary range of $190,500–$262,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.
Hybrid work arrangement with office attendance three days per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and one flexible Monday, Wednesday, or Friday; hybrid employees may work remotely up to four weeks per year.
