Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain resilient and scalable payment features.
  • Lead complex projects improving functionality and reliability for customers and partners.
  • Build backend services and APIs for third-party payment processors handling millions of transactions.
  • Partner with teams across Toast, including UX and Product Management, to define and design features.
  • Build automated testing to ensure quality.
  • Roll out features to customers and partners and monitor their success.
  • Mentor and coach other engineers.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a three-year undergraduate degree in a related discipline.
  • 9–13 years of experience building backend services and APIs.
  • Extensive experience with an object-oriented language such as Java or Kotlin.
  • Deep understanding of testing, quality, and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience shipping production services and balancing delivery with platform stability and reliability.
  • Experience scaling distributed systems.
  • Android application development with Kotlin is a plus.
  • Ability to deliver positive customer impact and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills on complex technical topics.
