Staff Software Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable backend services, APIs, and data-intensive systems for the Marketplace Health Engine.
  • Drive technical strategy and lead initiatives across multiple teams without direct authority.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, Data, and Operations to solve complex marketplace and operational problems.
  • Drive projects end-to-end from discovery and design through implementation, launch, and post-launch support.
  • Mentor engineers and align technical and non-technical stakeholders around a shared vision.
  • Deep dive into complex issues and independently drive them to resolution, including through on-call support.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of related professional software engineering experience building scalable distributed systems.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams and influencing technical strategy without direct authority.
  • Experience designing and building backend services, APIs, and data-intensive systems; AWS experience is preferred.
  • Experience partnering with Product and Data to deliver business outcomes.
  • Experience solving complex marketplace, platform, or large-scale operational problems with measurable impact.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience includes startup environments, SaaS applications on AWS, on-call support, Node.js, TypeScript, Kafka, and products with high reliability or accuracy requirements.
