Staff, Machine Learning Engineer in Others

Responsibilities

  • Own the Recommendation service, one of Coupang’s critical customer-facing services.
  • Collaborate with global teams to co-build a world-class recommendation system.
  • Analyze large volumes of customer behavior data to generate actionable insights.
  • Develop machine learning models and features for new or improved recommendation algorithms.
  • Create data jobs for machine learning features, build and train models, run experiments, and launch new models.
  • Mentor and help grow engineers across teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience applying AI/ML to large-scale, complex datasets.
  • Proven ability to derive actionable insights from complex datasets and solve business-critical problems using advanced AI/ML technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience as a domain technical leader driving cross-team collaboration on large-scale, high-impact solutions.
  • Professional proficiency in Python and/or Java with relevant industry experience.
  • A track record of launching successful algorithms that deliver measurable business impact.
  • Professional proficiency in English and excellent communication skills.
  • Preferred: Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related science field.
  • Preferred: experience with recommendation or search systems, LLMs, PLMs, embedding models, online serving systems at scale, and cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP, including Vertex AI.
