Staff Engineer - Linux kernel Developer in Others

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement performance, scale, reliability, live migration, and upgrade improvements for the AHV hypervisor stack.
  • Perform low-level coding, debugging, and systems development across hardware architectures, preferably x86.
  • Research solutions and support design decisions with data and technical analysis.
  • Participate in design discussions and communicate technical ideas to geographically distributed teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to their technical development.
  • Support occasional customer escalations involving rare or severe outages.
  • Contribute product improvements to open-source community projects.

Requirements

  • Strong operating-system and systems fundamentals.
  • Experience writing and maintaining enterprise-quality code.
  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience building and shipping enterprise-grade software.
  • Knowledge of x86 virtualization and the KVM stack is preferred.
  • Contributions to the Linux kernel or virtualization stack are preferred.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to work effectively across geographies.
