Responsibilities

Build and ship production-grade AI products from problem framing and data pipeline design through deployment and live iteration
Work with partners in a forward-deployed manner to develop scalable agentic solutions
Lead technical scoping workshops with city leaders to address local problems using agentic workflows
Contribute to tooling involving data consolidation, predictive modeling, real-time decision-making, and LLM-powered experiences
Collaborate with product, data science, and operations teams to prioritize high-impact AI opportunities
Write scalable backend code, design APIs, manage data flows, and ensure reliable performance at scale
Help establish AI Labs’ technical culture, development practices, review processes, and shipping workflows
Evaluate and introduce new AI tools, ideas, and development approaches

Requirements

10+ years of hands-on experience building full-stack applications and owning features end-to-end
3+ years of experience working with AI tools or building AI-powered products
Deep expertise with LLMs, predictive modeling, and supporting data infrastructure
Strong backend engineering skills, including scalable API design and distributed systems
Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, early-stage environments and take ownership
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Comfort working directly with users and customers and traveling for on-site collaboration

Salary: $200k - $275k/yr
