Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end high-volume data platform for image, video, audio, and text used in AI research.
Scale the Databricks lakehouse and distributed processing stack, including architecture and build-versus-buy decisions.
Build reusable infrastructure for synthetic data generation across multiple media modalities.
Implement dataset versioning, lineage, metadata, quality checks, and stable train/evaluation splits for reproducibility.
Own pipeline reliability, observability, and processing cost per dataset.
Partner with ML researchers to create self-service data tools that accelerate model iteration.
Mentor engineers and improve code review, testing, documentation, and runbook practices.
Work with security and compliance stakeholders on data handling, licensing, and access controls.
Help define the long-term data platform roadmap and lead high-leverage initiatives.

Requirements

8+ years building data platforms or data infrastructure, including staff- or lead-level ownership of high-volume production pipelines.
Deep hands-on experience with distributed processing such as Spark or Ray and lakehouse platforms, ideally Databricks, on cloud object storage.
Production experience with Databricks, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, and Spark on AWS, including performance tuning, access controls, and operational troubleshooting.
Experience handling large unstructured media such as video, audio, or images, including large-file decoding, transcoding, and metadata at scale.
Experience building reproducible ML datasets with versioning, lineage, data quality validation, and orchestration using tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Databricks Workflows.
Strong Python and SQL skills and the ability to own ambiguous platform problems end to end.
Experience with Terraform and deployment automation for AWS storage, IAM, compute, Databricks resources, and distributed processing environments.
Experience with synthetic data generation pipelines or generative models such as diffusion, voice cloning/TTS, or video generation is preferred.
Experience supporting ML research teams with training and evaluation data, especially for multimodal models, is preferred.
Experience in security, fraud, trust and safety, adversarial domains, or high-growth startups is preferred.
