Staff AI-Native Software Engineer in USA

  • South Jordan, UT

Responsibilities

  • Champion AI-native engineering practices including agentic coding, AI-assisted reviews, test generation, and AI-augmented architecture documentation while maintaining quality and human oversight.
  • Drive architecture across client applications, cloud services, device layers, APIs, connectivity, latency, reliability, failure recovery, and cross-platform design.
  • Lead architecture governance through ADR authoring and review, architecture reviews, and traceability between major pull requests and ADRs.
  • Own planning, estimation, delivery accountability, large-scale refactoring, and modernization efforts.
  • Ensure reliability, security, and performance through retries, secure authentication, encryption, certificate validation, permissions, and telemetry.
  • Partner with product, design, QA, manufacturing, firmware/electrical engineering, AI/ML, support, and security teams.
  • Mentor engineering leaders and influence tradeoffs involving performance, user experience, reliability, and cost.
  • Own safe shipping and release health through feature flags, progressive rollouts, kill switches, A/B experiments, and crash, performance, and defect tracking.
  • Build and maintain approximately 90% hands-on implementation while providing architecture leadership.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience shipping production software across client applications, backend services, and device integration.
  • Strong proficiency in several of Swift, Kotlin, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, React, and Python.
  • At least one year of pragmatic hands-on use of AI engineering tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, and agentic SDKs.
  • Production experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities including model orchestration, retrieval, agentic patterns, evaluations, and latency, cost, and reliability tradeoffs.
  • Experience developing backend APIs with a modern stack such as .NET/ASP.NET Core, Node.js with NestJS or Express, Java with Spring Boot, or Python with FastAPI or Django.
  • Proven experience building cross-platform products at scale across iOS, Android, desktop, and web using shared code, platform abstraction layers, and disciplined API contracts; React Native or Flutter is a plus.
  • Strong device-connectivity expertise involving Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB, BLE GATT design, Wi-Fi provisioning, and mDNS/SSDP discovery.
  • Working knowledge of embedded and hardware integration, including firmware constraints, command protocols, calibration, safety, OTA updates, and error codes or telemetry.
  • Strong backend experience with REST APIs, microservices, and backend integration, plus hands-on asymmetric cryptography experience.
  • Track record leading large-scale refactors and modernization efforts and communicating architecture through diagrams, ADRs, and tradeoff analysis.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, influence without authority, mentor senior engineers, and balance strategic direction with implementation detail.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) match, generous paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and a yearly lifestyle stipend.
  • Exclusive employee discounts and an inclusive, collaborative work environment.
