Responsibilities

  • Shape the Health Log Analytics roadmap with engineering, product, leadership, and customer input.
  • Set architecture direction across data ingestion, storage, query, anomaly detection, and AIOps teams.
  • Prototype and communicate technical strategies for distributed data systems and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Lead design reviews and define standards for completeness, durability, latency, availability, tenant isolation, and unit cost.
  • Guide storage migrations, schema changes, replay, upgrades, and other low- or zero-downtime transitions.
  • Establish architectural boundaries and contracts across collection, ingest, storage, anomaly detection, query, and AIOps experiences.
  • Evaluate AI applications through customer value, data quality, reliability, safety, and cost considerations.
  • Set quality, on-call, and incident-learning practices while mentoring senior engineers and technical leads.

Requirements

  • 12+ years building and operating production distributed systems, with substantial ownership of large-scale data or platform systems, or equivalent depth demonstrated through sustained technical leadership.
  • Broad experience across data ingestion, storage, query, and AI on data, with deep expertise in at least one area.
  • Experience with Kafka, Pulsar, or Kinesis and with columnar stores, time-series databases, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, or object-storage designs.
  • Experience influencing teams the candidate does not own through technical credibility and clear thinking.
  • Evidence-based judgment about AI, including safeguards for correctness, safety, and cost, and experience shipping AI or a well-developed point of view on its use.
  • Strong judgment regarding consistency, latency, cost, and operational burden tradeoffs.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure at scale.
  • Fluency in at least one of Go, Java, Scala, Rust, or Python, with the ability to prototype, conduct deep code reviews, and write production code when needed.
  • Clear communication skills for explaining complex designs to both new hires and executives.
  • Preferred experience in observability, log analytics, OpenTelemetry, AIOps, AI-native companies, agents, LLM-based features, multitenant SaaS, or per-tenant isolation.
  • Experience working remotely and leading remote teams.

  • Base pay of $171,900 - $300,800, plus equity when applicable and variable or incentive compensation.

Salary: $172k - $301k/yr
