Responsibilities

  • Lead QA and testing activities across VistA applications and workflows affected by the SSN reduction initiative.
  • Develop and maintain project-wide test strategies, plans, standards, priorities, test cases, and scenarios.
  • Lead and mentor QA Analysts through planning, execution, documentation, defect management, and release validation.
  • Oversee functional, integration, regression, security, and User Acceptance Testing.
  • Lead defect triage, prioritization, retesting, closure, and quality-risk monitoring.
  • Coordinate end-to-end testing across development, QA, business, clinical, administrative, and Government stakeholders.
  • Maintain traceability among requirements, test cases, defects, and validation results.
  • Ensure testing addresses privacy, PII/PHI, security, NIST, compliance, and auditability requirements.
  • Support release-readiness reviews and communicate testing status, risks, dependencies, and impediments.
  • Identify opportunities for test automation and provide QA input during requirements, design, and Agile ceremonies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Health Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years of software quality assurance experience supporting healthcare IT or complex enterprise systems.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a QA Lead, Test Lead, QA Manager, or comparable quality leadership role.
  • Experience creating and executing comprehensive functional, integration, regression, and UAT strategies.
  • Experience with defect management, release validation, requirements traceability, QA metrics, and reporting.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum software development environments.
  • Strong knowledge of test case and test script development, test automation concepts, and QA best practices.
  • Ability to lead distributed QA teams and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with VA VistA applications and familiarity with MUMPS-based environments is an additional qualification.
  • Knowledge of PII/PHI handling, HIPAA, NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, and VA privacy and security requirements is an additional qualification.
  • U.S. citizenship, successful completion of a background check, and ability to obtain and maintain a Government/Public Trust clearance are required.
