Responsibilities

Design and develop highly scalable software and firmware systems that detect, diagnose, and mitigate reliability issues across Google’s server fleet.
Translate hardware fault behaviors into software telemetry, diagnostic, and automated recovery mechanisms.
Drive the technical direction for fault management, guide complex problem-solving and system design, and establish standards for reliable code.
Collaborate with Hardware Engineering, Technical Infrastructure, and Cloud teams on next-generation compute and storage architectures.
Architect pipelines that collect and analyze fleet-wide telemetry and turn hardware health signals into actionable insights and automated mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with silicon vendors and shape industry standards for hardware/software co-design.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
At least 8 years of experience programming in C++, SQL, and embedded systems.
At least 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
At least 5 years of experience building large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
At least 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
Preferred: master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Preferred: 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
Preferred: 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
Preferred: 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
Preferred: experience with a business intelligence platform and SQL pipelines.

Benefits

US base salary of $207000–$300000, plus a 20% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
