Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the autonomy stack for onboard reasoning, adaptation, and swarm coordination.
  • Architect perception, planning, control, inter-robot communication, and command-and-control systems running across the vehicle swarm.
  • Harden communication protocols for tactical swarm decision-making under degraded and contested communications.
  • Evaluate onboard versus offboard compute and centralized versus distributed decision-making tradeoffs.
  • Move autonomy capabilities from integration and testing into fielded operations and incorporate test data into the software stack.
  • Mentor and technically guide robotics engineers while establishing standards for clean, maintainable, efficient, testable, and reliable code.
  • Travel up to 25% for onsite testing and integration events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 3 years of experience building soft-real-time embedded systems.
  • Deep expertise in at least one systems language: Go, Rust, or C/C++.
  • Experience deploying and validating robotics algorithms such as Dubins planning, SLAM, Kalman filters, particle filters, A*, behavior trees, and reinforcement learning.
  • Working knowledge of embedded systems, SPI/I2C/serial protocols, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and microcontroller programming.
  • Strong networking fundamentals including NAT, mDNS, UDP/TCP, multicast, and firewall configuration.
  • Excellent software engineering practices focused on testable and reliable code.
  • Preferred: experience with perception systems, sensor fusion, multi-target tracking, deployed robotics or IoT systems, complex edge processing, robotics middleware, serialization formats, government UxS interoperability standards, electronics, and deep learning.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations under ITAR requirements.

Salary: $175k - $250k/yr
