Software Developer - Systems Performance in Canada new

Responsibilities

  • Measure system behavior and analyze complex performance bottlenecks across Kernel, Drivers, applications, and UI.
  • Architect and implement system-level performance fixes for embedded automotive platforms.
  • Design and build on-device and server-side diagnostic tools with automated testing and post-processing.
  • Evaluate feature submissions against performance budgets for boot time, latency, and throughput.
  • Optimize memory footprint, memory leaks, fragmentation, resource contention, power consumption, thermal behavior, and sleep/wake cycles.
  • Build telemetry pipelines and remote logging mechanisms to identify performance regressions in test fleets.
  • Collaborate with hardware vendors and silicon partners to use hardware accelerators and improve CPU utilization and throughput.
  • Participate in agile scrum development sprints.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in embedded C/C++ development.
  • At least 3 years of experience programming in Python.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux and/or Android internals.
  • Experience designing multithreaded embedded systems and applying Real-Time OS concepts.
  • Preferred experience with file systems, memory management, CPU scheduling, or kernel configuration optimization.
  • Preferred expertise with strace, ftrace, LTTng, Perfetto, or QNX Momentics.
  • Preferred experience with In-Vehicle Infotainment, CAN, Automotive Ethernet, Jenkins, Git, and data visualization.
  • Candidates must provide proof of degree completion; degrees earned outside Canada require an Education Credential Assessment showing Canadian equivalency.
  • Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Benefits

  • Expected annual base salary is CAD $96,000.00–$146,000.00, with potential eligibility for an annual compensation bonus program.
  • Hybrid position; candidates within commuting distance of a Ford hub may be required to work onsite four or more days per week.
