Responsibilities

  • Lead a new DevOps practice for the Conversational AI team and drive infrastructure engineering standards across multiple teams.
  • Own build, deployment, release automation, and reliability for ServiceNow Otto systems across SaaS environments.
  • Deploy, scale, and operate distributed microservices in production Kubernetes environments, including application lifecycle, networking, security, and service reliability.
  • Design infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code and Kubernetes-native tooling, including Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and Kubernetes Operators.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Tekton, and ArgoCD.
  • Implement observability, monitoring, incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation practices to improve availability and resilience.
  • Architect and optimize public and private cloud infrastructure for security, scalability, cost efficiency, and operational simplicity.
  • Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot AI-powered services, including model API integrations, latency, resource utilization, observability, and operational costs.
  • Use and critically review AI coding assistants and apply AI-assisted debugging and trace analysis while respecting data privacy requirements.
  • Drive cross-team infrastructure initiatives, production reliability improvements, and scalable platform engineering practices.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience deploying and operating containerized applications and distributed services in production environments.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and infrastructure automation.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language such as Go, Python, or Bash, with experience building production-grade automation and tooling.
  • Deep expertise designing, building, and operating scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-native applications and infrastructure.
  • Experience leading complex infrastructure initiatives, establishing engineering best practices, and driving adoption across multiple teams.
  • Working knowledge of LLMs, generative AI, and agentic AI concepts, including integration patterns and operational considerations.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools and validating, debugging, and safely integrating AI-generated code.
  • Preferred qualifications include 12+ years of software, infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering experience.
  • Preferred experience includes operating Kubernetes-based SaaS platforms at scale, developing Kubernetes Operators or custom controllers, and deploying LLM-powered or agentic systems in production.
  • Preferred candidates have demonstrated technical leadership in cross-team infrastructure initiatives and AI-enabled automation, observability, incident diagnosis, or remediation.

Benefits

  • Base pay is $201,300-$352,300, plus equity when applicable, variable or incentive compensation, and benefits.
  • Benefits include health plans, flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, flexible time away, and family leave programs.
  • The role uses ServiceNow’s distributed work personas and is designated as Flexible; work-persona eligibility depends on role and location.
  • Employee type is Regular, with the region listed as North America and Canada.
