Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, debug, and test customer-facing firmware features using C/C++ and Golang.
  • Build and support IoT products serving more than 1.5 million devices in the field.
  • Design and develop internal observability practices for firmware rollout health.
  • Build and monitor metrics during firmware releases and rollouts.
  • Triage and assess incoming customer- and QA-reported issues.
  • Collaborate with product managers, customer support, full-stack engineers, firmware teams, and systems engineers.
  • Champion Samsara’s cultural principles while scaling products and engineering teams globally.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional industry experience in software development.
  • Experience with large-scale observability for production systems.
  • Experience developing and shipping production code.
  • Experience building and monitoring metrics during firmware rollouts.
  • Experience triaging and assessing customer and QA issues.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a similar field.
  • Experience with C/C++ or Golang is preferred.
  • Experience with Linux-based embedded systems on complex SoCs, Linux drivers, and complex system debugging is preferred.
  • Experience working with SoC vendors or JDM partners is preferred.
  • Automotive OEM, automotive supplier, or telematics provider experience is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of CAN-utils and Linux CAN is preferred.
  • Experience building production-ready platforms with a design-for-test mindset is preferred.
