Responsibilities

Partner with Data Science, Data Platform, Product, and Engineering teams to define Roblox’s data ontology.
Lead and mentor a growing team of Data Engineers.
Design, build, and maintain reliable batch and streaming data pipelines for core data sets.
Develop scalable frameworks and tooling to automate analytics workflows and improve interactions with data products.
Establish and promote best practices for data operations and lifecycle management.
Collaborate with Data Science, Experimentation, Machine Learning, Data Infrastructure, and Storage teams on integrated analytics solutions.

Requirements

8+ years of professional experience building scalable ETL pipelines with industry-standard orchestration tools.
Deep expertise in SQL, PySpark, or Scala.
3+ years leading data engineering development directly with business or data science stakeholders.
Experience building, scaling, and maintaining multi-terabyte data sets and solving large-scale analytics challenges.
Experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Experience developing or enhancing ETL orchestration tools or frameworks.
Experience working within a standard GitOps workflow, including branching, merging, pull requests, and CI/CD systems.

Benefits

Monthly base salary range of $21,691–$24,604 for roles based at Roblox headquarters in San Mateo, California.
Office-based roles are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday unless otherwise noted.
