Senior Software Engineer, Containers in USA new

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship Chainguard Containers features and services from initial design through production and the first week of customer use.
  • Own scope, sequencing, trade-offs, and delivery decisions for projects.
  • Build and maintain hardened container image build pipelines, registry functionality, distribution systems, and adoption tooling.
  • Work with AI coding agents in development, review, and operations while improving safe usage practices.
  • Investigate issues across services, customer interactions, support tickets, and go-to-market data.
  • Maintain system health through observability, on-call responsibilities, and preventative fixes.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, customers, and distributed teammates through clear written communication.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience building and operating software used by paying customers.
  • Strong fundamentals in a systems language, preferably Go, along with API design, databases, caching, and cloud infrastructure on GCP or AWS.
  • Working knowledge of containers, container registries, the OCI image format, and Kubernetes.
  • Daily experience using agentic coding tools and the ability to describe their impact on work output.
  • Strong judgment, systems thinking, ownership, adaptability, and written communication skills.
  • Experience working on a distributed, remote-first team and excellent written English.

Salary: $157k - $184k/yr
