Responsibilities

Design and scale backend systems for data infrastructure, including PostgreSQL data models, event pipelines, and GraphQL APIs.
Lead the design and integration of services and components for data and event processing.
Own pipelines that deliver dataset snapshots into the data warehouse.
Translate stakeholder requirements into integrations, services, and solutions for the data platform.
Draft RFCs and lead complex feature discovery and technical design efforts.
Ensure data completeness, idempotency, correctness, and predictable behavior under partial failure.
Improve operational robustness and usability through documentation, tools, and dashboards.

Requirements

5+ years of backend development experience, including at least 2 years focused on data platforms and backend infrastructure for data-centric applications.
Strong SQL proficiency and production experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexes, query tuning, and query plans.
Hands-on experience with Kafka or equivalent streaming and event-processing technologies such as RabbitMQ, Pulsar, or Amazon Kinesis.
Proficiency in Julia or Python; Julia experience is preferred but not required.
Experience deploying and operating services in containerized environments, with familiarity with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Helm.
Experience with GraphQL and TypeScript/JavaScript, including Node.js.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in remote or hybrid teams.

Benefits

Fully remote work anywhere in the US, with optional in-person office hubs in Boston, New York, and Paris.
Base salary range of $150,000–$170,000, with equity, PTO, and other benefits included in the total compensation package.

Salary: $150k - $170k/yr
