Responsibilities

Improve the performance and resilience of backend systems across Altruist’s product teams.
Implement observability practices using OpenTelemetry, logging, and standard SLOs.
Own the design and follow-up process for incident response.
Mentor engineering teams on secure, performant, and resilient coding practices.
Promote automated testing practices and contribute to shared infrastructure solutions.
Collaborate with engineering leadership, product managers, and cross-functional teams on challenging technical problems.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience building scalable backend services at a B2B financial services, fintech, or SaaS organization.
Proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.
Expertise in microservices architecture and distributed systems.
Strong knowledge of SQL and databases including Postgres and MySQL.
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
A B.A. or B.S. in a relevant field such as Computer Science or Software Engineering is preferred, while equivalent experience and understanding are valued.
Preferred experience includes AWS cloud infrastructure, tabletop exercises, GitLab continuous integration and delivery pipelines, Terraform, Debezium, Temporal, OpenTelemetry, AI best practices with Claude, and brokerage or financial services platforms.

Salary: $181k - $225k/yr
