Senior Security Engineer II in USA

Responsibilities

  • Define cloud security standards, guardrails, and reference architectures for Infrastructure, SRE, and Product Engineering.
  • Set the roadmap for high-impact cloud security work and lead cross-functional initiatives from scoping through delivery.
  • Own threat modeling, secure-by-default architecture, IAM strategy, cloud posture assessment, and risk prioritization across AWS and GCP.
  • Design cloud threat detections and SIEM rules, lead cloud incident response and forensics, and codify findings into playbooks and preventative controls.
  • Own security tooling including CrowdStrike, Tenable, and native cloud security services, as well as cloud vulnerability management.
  • Set security standards for self-managed Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD supply chains, patch management, base-image hardening, and version management.
  • Lead security practices for distributed systems and self-managed data stores such as MongoDB.
  • Mentor engineers and represent cloud security in architecture and design forums.

Requirements

  • Several years of production cloud security ownership, including being on-call for cloud security.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS as the primary cloud, GCP, and self-managed Kubernetes.
  • Ability to read and write code in Python and Terraform.
  • Experience with secure cloud architecture, threat modeling, IAM, detection engineering, incident response, cloud forensics, and vulnerability management.
  • Ability to lead ambiguous, cross-functional security initiatives and establish standards and playbooks.
  • Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to security and platform engineers.

Salary: $149k - $235k/yr
