Senior Machine Learning Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Develop novel machine learning algorithms and models for Defense and Intelligence applications.
  • Optimize neural networks and inference systems for high-throughput execution at continental and global scales.
  • Develop computer vision, time series, and embeddings-based methods for satellite data.
  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and software engineers to define requirements and iterate on algorithms.
  • Integrate ML preprocessing and inference pipelines with adjacent software engineering platforms.
  • Establish testing, validation, and monitoring frameworks to maintain model reliability.
  • Evaluate results rigorously and communicate algorithm failure modes and performance insights.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including 6+ years of machine learning experience.
  • Expertise in data science, time series methods, computer vision, and embeddings.
  • Ability to implement, train, and optimize neural networks and experiment with model architectures.
  • Experience handling large datasets, preferably with geospatial libraries, and using PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Experience writing modular Python code and applying software development practices with Git, testing, and CI/CD.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining models at scale using Docker, Kubernetes, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with AWS or GCP.
  • Graduate degree in a STEM or analytics-focused field or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining technical topics to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work from the Washington, DC metro area and commute to Arlington, VA three days per week.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance.
  • Preferred: knowledge of remote sensing, satellite imagery, geospatial domains, coordinate reference systems, geometry manipulation, GeoTIFF, GeoJSON, geospatial or sensor-driven data products, model compression, GPU optimization, or distributed training pipelines.

Salary: $161k - $201k/yr
