Responsibilities

Design, develop, deploy, monitor, and test production ML models and AI services.
Use LLM APIs, fine-tuning, classical models, and rules to build cost-effective, high-quality AI systems.
Write clean production software, APIs, error handling, tests, and supporting monitoring.
Partner with Product Engineering, Product, and cross-functional teams to define solutions and API contracts.
Build evaluation frameworks, run experiments, and iterate based on model and system performance.
Automate pipelines, build agentic workflows, and contribute reusable skills and context to Checkr’s agentic platform.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent depth from experience.
6+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 2 years building production ML systems.
Strong Python fluency and ability to write clean, testable, well-structured object-oriented code.
Hands-on production experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, structured outputs, function calling, cost management, and evaluation.
Experience building and maintaining APIs, working with CI/CD pipelines, and shipping code used by other engineers.
Experience with AI-assisted workflows, LLMs, code-generation tools, or agentic systems in production or operational contexts.
Preferred experience with MLflow, SageMaker, Vertex, document processing, OCR, information extraction, PySpark, Ruby, compliance-sensitive domains, dbt, Snowflake, or modern ELT/data transformation tools.
