Senior Java Full-Stack Engineer in UK

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices and backend applications using Java 17 and Spring Boot.
  • Build, enhance, and support APIs powering BT’s digital products and customer experiences.
  • Contribute to front-end development using React and modern web technologies.
  • Drive code quality, engineering standards, technical guidance, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with architects, product owners, analysts, designers, and engineers to deliver business outcomes.
  • Support CI/CD automation and DevOps practices and contribute to cloud-native technology adoption.
  • Lead technical discussions, influence engineering decisions, mentor junior engineers, and help build engineering culture.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive resolution.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience delivering enterprise-scale software engineering solutions.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java 17, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
  • Experience designing and developing APIs and understanding software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, Git-based source control, and cloud-native application development.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
  • Desirable: React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, AWS or other public cloud platforms, GraphQL, Docker, Kubernetes, event-driven architectures, messaging technologies, Dynatrace, Grafana, or CloudWatch.
  • Desirable: payments, financial services, fintech, payment gateways, digital wallets, Open Banking, card payments, BNPL, third-party payment providers, financial-services APIs, PCI DSS, authentication, or fraud-prevention controls.
