Responsibilities

Lead migration of legacy monolithic applications to Java-based microservices.
Design, develop, and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
Deploy and manage applications in AWS Kubernetes environments.
Optimize database performance, scalability, and reliability.
Develop secure production-grade applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
Implement authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices.
Support integrations with internal, external, and third-party systems.
Use AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot.
Participate in production support and on-call rotations.
Mentor engineers while remaining hands-on with development.

Requirements

At least 8 years of Java development experience.
Strong expertise with Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and REST APIs.
Experience modernizing legacy applications into microservices architectures.
Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar relational databases.
Knowledge of OAuth and application security best practices.
Strong troubleshooting, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to mentor engineers while remaining hands-on with development.
Ruby-to-Java migration experience is preferred.
Federal government or healthcare IT experience is preferred.
Experience with AWS cloud services and CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.
Must successfully pass a government suitability review and background investigation.
Must have lived continuously within the United States for the previous three consecutive years.
