Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain responsive, accessible user interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Integrate front-end applications with back-end services through REST/JSON APIs.
  • Develop and maintain Drupal themes and front-end components for CMS-driven websites.
  • Build reusable component libraries and enforce consistent design and coding standards.
  • Ensure deliverables comply with Section 508 and WCAG 2.x using automated and manual accessibility testing.
  • Optimize page performance, cross-browser compatibility, and mobile responsiveness.
  • Write unit and end-to-end tests and participate in code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and security scanning.
  • Collaborate with developers, information management staff, QA, security teams, and stakeholders on user-friendly solutions and accurate data and metadata flow.
  • Mentor junior developers and recommend front-end tools, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Maintain technical documentation, release notes, and runbooks, and improve repeatable processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with four years of experience accepted in lieu of the degree.
  • 8+ years of related front-end or UI development experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust requiring U.S. citizenship.
  • Expert proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript ES6+.
  • Strong experience with React and/or Angular, including state management and API integration.
  • Experience building and consuming REST/JSON APIs, using responsive design, CSS preprocessors, and build tools such as npm, Webpack, and Vite.
  • Strong understanding of Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards and assistive technology testing with tools such as JAWS and NVDA.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD workflows, and front-end testing frameworks such as Jest and Cypress.
  • Familiarity with secure coding practices.
  • Preferred experience with Drupal theming, Twig, CMS front ends, Figma, design systems, Google Analytics, PHP, and federal or government web environments.
  • Preferred accessibility certification such as IAAP WAS or DHS Trusted Tester.
