Security Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate security controls for reinforcement learning training systems and their infrastructure.
  • Work across orchestration, environments, training, and inference systems.
  • Review RL designs and code, identify security problems, and implement fixes.
  • Build shared libraries, tooling, and observability for RL engineers, researchers, and large fleets.
  • Collaborate with researchers and performance engineers to preserve training correctness, performance, and reliability.
  • Write clear design documents for implemented systems.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering skills in Python and at least one systems language such as Rust, C++, or Go.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems or production security systems.
  • Strong understanding of security fundamentals and working knowledge of Linux, containers, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience debugging complex problems across many hosts and services.
  • Ability to reason about tradeoffs among security, performance, and reliability.
  • Strong written communication, including design documentation.
  • Preferred: experience with ML training or inference infrastructure, infrastructure security, Kubernetes, sandboxed or virtualized code execution, fleet observability, research-team support, reinforcement learning, or large language model training workloads.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in a relevant field.

  • Annual compensation is listed as $320,000—$405,000 USD.

  • The role currently follows a location-based hybrid policy requiring staff to be in an office at least 25% of the time, with some roles requiring more.
  • Anthropic sponsors visas and makes every reasonable effort to obtain one if an offer is made, though sponsorship is not successful for every role or candidate.
