Satellite On Orbit Operations Software in USA new

Responsibilities

  • Develop and rapidly deploy software for satellites and ground systems that automates fault detection, response, and operational workflows
  • Build and improve ground software for vehicle-state management, commanding, deorbits, and real-time anomaly triage
  • Develop operational processes, strategies, and automation for new hardware versions, satellite capabilities, and performance targets
  • Detect and triage anomalies on satellite bus and payload hardware and command orbital assets during rotating on-call coverage
  • Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, electrical, GNC, network, and test engineers to deliver reliable satellite connectivity
  • Develop tools and upgrades that inform next-generation satellite designs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, robotics, physics, or another STEM discipline
  • At least one year of professional software development experience
  • Experience building software that interacts with hardware, such as robotics, embedded systems, control systems, or test automation
  • Python and/or C++ experience is strongly preferred; SQL, bash, or similar experience is valuable
  • Strong understanding of computers, programming languages, and formal software development processes
  • Experience with real-time or near-real-time systems, automation, and data-driven decision making is preferred
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting complex hardware/software systems such as robotics, spacecraft, or industrial automation is preferred
  • Understanding of hardware reliability and electrical and mechanical failure mechanisms is preferred
  • Experience developing functional test plans, field operations tools, or operational software for physical systems is preferred
  • Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission-critical deadlines
  • Ability to work on a weeklong rotating on-call schedule
  • Applicants must meet applicable ITAR eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain required authorizations
