Principal Mobile Engineer (POS Terminal) in Remote new

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture and development of POS terminal solutions, ensuring security, scalability, performance, reliability, and hardware/payment-system integration.
  • Create and maintain architectural documentation and diagrams for POS terminal systems across platforms.
  • Make software architecture decisions involving payment technologies, EMV standards, hardware compatibility, payment processors, and gateways.
  • Develop and maintain POS-related applications, including Android Native and mobile maintenance applications.
  • Optimize payment processing and EMV performance and security, and monitor and troubleshoot system stability and reliability.
  • Conduct code reviews and establish software engineering best practices for mobile and embedded systems teams.
  • Mentor engineers, improve developer productivity and processes, and participate in hiring POS, mobile, and embedded engineering candidates.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in system design, architecture, and development within the POS terminal domain.
  • Strong Android Native development expertise using Java and Kotlin, including Android-based POS terminal solutions.
  • Experience with cross-platform mobile development such as Flutter; familiarity with C and JavaScript POS platforms is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of EMV security protocols, chip-based transactions, encryption, and key management.
  • Experience integrating POS hardware such as card readers, pin pads, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Deep understanding of payment systems architecture and integration with payment processors and gateways.
  • Knowledge of software quality assurance principles and their application in financial systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, leadership, mentoring, and process-improvement abilities.
