Lead Software Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Write and ship production software in the portfolio company’s existing stack.
  • Modernize the software development lifecycle, including testing, staging, feature flags, and deployable workflows.
  • Coach existing engineers and improve the team’s engineering practices.
  • Set the product roadmap with the general manager and own prioritization trade-offs.
  • Establish daily coding-agent workflows to accelerate development.
  • Implement retrieval, tool use, evaluations, and guardrails in production products.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including experience as a tech lead, founding engineer, small-company CTO, or primary engineer responsible for a product.
  • Production experience in at least three technology stacks and the ability to learn new stacks quickly.
  • Experience taking over messy codebases and discouraged teams and improving them.
  • Daily experience using coding agents, with the ability to demonstrate the setup.
  • Ability to work directly with general managers, operators, and customers and exercise independent judgment.
