Lead Engineer in Remote

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement custom automation frameworks for functional, performance, and security testing.
  • Develop reusable testing libraries, plugins, CLI tools, test harnesses, and integrations with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Write maintainable Java and JavaScript/TypeScript code to automate testing workflows.
  • Integrate testing tools with version control, CI/CD platforms, artifact repositories, test management systems, reporting tools, and device farms.
  • Containerize testing tools with Docker and orchestrate test environments using Kubernetes.
  • Implement observability in testing tools using New Relic, Grafana, and the ELK Stack.
  • Partner with QE, SRE/DevOps, and development teams to identify testing challenges and deliver tooling solutions.
  • Provide governance, documentation, training, and support to enable adoption and extension of testing tools.
  • Evaluate emerging testing technologies and contribute to internal test automation and quality engineering practices.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in Quality Engineering and tools development or a similar role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related engineering discipline.
  • Strong Java programming skills focused on tooling and automation.
  • Proficiency extending and customizing functional, UI, API, performance, and security testing tools.
  • Experience integrating testing tools with Jira, Qmetry, ReportPortal, Allure, ExtentReports, Grafana, Jenkins, Harness, ArgoCD, GitLab, SonarQube, BrowserStack, and LambdaTest.
  • Experience with test data management, mocking frameworks, and service virtualization tools such as WireMock, Hoverfly, or Mockito.
  • Strong command of relational and non-relational databases and publish-subscribe messaging systems such as Kafka.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs, gRPC, WebSockets, and event-driven or asynchronous architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments, shell scripting, and system-level debugging.
  • Experience with problem-solving, root cause analysis, and debugging complex systems across the stack.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-based test generation or test impact analysis and background in developer experience or internal platform engineering are valued.
