Intermediate Software Engineer in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Identify, prioritize, and execute software development life cycle tasks.
  • Iterate on software requirements with business stakeholders.
  • Develop clean and efficient tools and applications using Java.
  • Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting.
  • Analyze and debug systems.
  • Perform validation and verification testing using a test-driven approach.
  • Review others’ work and participate in peer code reviews.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve products.
  • Keep software up to date with the latest technologies.

Requirements

  • Experience writing clean, scalable Java code.
  • Experience with Spring Boot.
  • In-depth knowledge of relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL.
  • Experience writing RESTful API endpoints.
  • Working knowledge of test-driven development.
  • Proficiency with Git.
  • Experience with system and performance monitoring tools such as New Relic and Datadog.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, and RestAssured.
  • Strong organization, critical-thinking, personal leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Proven experience as an engineer.
  • BSc/BA in Computer Science or a related degree.
  • Generative AI code assistant experience, including GitHub Copilot, is an asset.
  • UI development, React, Angular, Selenium automation, cloud services, Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Ansible, Jenkins, Linux, IP networking, AWS, Azure, SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, SaaS products, service-oriented architecture, Python, Bash, Groovy, production on-call work, and professional mentoring experience are preferred.
