Responsibilities

  • Develop accessible, responsive front-end web applications using React and related technologies.
  • Coordinate UI/UX designers and back-end developers to deliver seamless user experiences.
  • Guide development teams in learning new tools and techniques, implementing system improvements, and resolving complex problems.
  • Mentor teammates and participate in positive code reviews, system design, and continuous improvement.
  • Implement front-end unit, component, and end-to-end tests and maintain automated build and test pipelines.
  • Optimize application performance through code-splitting, lazy loading, and Lighthouse-based improvements.
  • Gather user requirements to inform UI designs and collaborate on usability improvements.
  • Apply WCAG 508 accessibility practices and meet applicable security requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with front-end programming languages and web development stacks, or 8+ years of software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, unless substituted by 8+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience with Python, React, Node.js, Next.js, CSS, or comparable front-end technologies.
  • Experience with TypeScript for scalable and maintainable front-end development.
  • Experience writing automated front-end unit, component, or end-to-end tests using Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Experience with front-end performance optimization techniques, user requirement gathering, and collaborative problem solving.
  • Ability to apply WCAG 508 compliance practices beyond basic requirements.
  • Experience with Git-based workflows, pull request reviews, branching strategies, and CI checks.
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph is required.
  • Preferred experience includes AWS, Terraform, S3, CloudFront, Lambda, API Gateway, Tailwind CSS, Styled Components, Emotion, Sass, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, API integration, UX heuristics, cloud-native architectures, and automated testing maintenance.
