Responsibilities

Architect, build, and ship scalable Android and iOS consumer apps and the backend services behind them.
Own the consumer experience from onboarding and permissions through engagement, retention, and polished user interfaces.
Build compliant foreground and background location permission and consent flows for App Store and Google Play policies.
Instrument attribution, installation, registration, permission grants, engagement, and retention funnels.
Own analytics, A/B testing, experimentation design, funnel reporting, releases, store submissions, and review responses.
Embed Placer's data collection technology and ensure contributed data reaches the platform through the required privacy pipeline.
Build fraud and abuse protections covering device integrity, location spoofing, emulators, and duplicate accounts.
Make early decisions about the technology stack, architecture, and vendors, and operate the service with monitoring, alerting, reliability, and cost ownership.
Help hire and mentor future engineers and establish the team's engineering practices.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
At least 6 years of software engineering experience, including at least 4 years building B2C products and consumer-facing mobile apps.
A shipped consumer experience that the candidate can explain screen by screen, including the UX decisions involved.
Experience taking at least one consumer app from zero to launch as a founding or early engineer and scaling it after launch.
Deep expertise in Android/Kotlin or iOS/Swift and working fluency with the other platform, or equivalent cross-platform experience with native modules.
Experience integrating SDKs into consumer mobile applications.
Backend experience building APIs and data services on a cloud platform, with Python and GCP preferred.
Direct experience with App Store and Google Play review, data-safety declarations, and policy rejections.
Mastery of AI development tools, including coding agents and AI-assisted design, testing, and code review, with concrete productivity examples.
Ability to work in a fast experimentation environment, communicate clearly, and raise risks early.
Preferred candidates demonstrate additional use of AI tools and comfort integrating generative AI into daily workflows.
