Founding AI Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Apply computer vision, multimodal AI, and LLM techniques to construction documents.
  • Prototype, iterate, build, and deploy AI systems that handle noisy and heterogeneous inputs.
  • Own modeling, data pipelines, and inference systems for automated material takeoffs and cost estimation.
  • Perform data labeling, ETL, and deployment tasks as part of a small founding team.
  • Collaborate with product teams and users to identify and solve high-impact problems.
  • Communicate progress and technical tradeoffs clearly and empathetically.

Requirements

  • Hands-on production experience applying computer vision, multimodal AI, and LLM techniques to messy real-world documents or similar unstructured data.
  • Experience launching AI systems into production or building core parts of a new product.
  • Experience iterating quickly on prototypes using real user feedback and production data.
  • Experience building or shipping something used by real users or customers.
  • Willingness to handle pragmatic founding-team engineering work, including data labeling, ETL, and deployment.
  • US work authorization is required.
  • Construction domain knowledge is a plus.
  • Candidates at any experience level, including new graduates with relevant production experience, are welcome.

Benefits

  • Base salary plus equity.
  • Full-time, in-office role on-site in San Francisco, California.
  • Candidates must be based in San Francisco or willing to relocate.

Salary: $120k - $180k/yr
