Enterprise Systems Software Engineer Intern in USA

Responsibilities

  • Own and improve software systems for manufacturing, supply chain, finance, parts traceability, and inventory.
  • Define APIs, data models, service boundaries, metrics, SLAs, and operational runbooks.
  • Build resilient integrations between digital services and physical hardware tooling, including support for intermittent connectivity.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, postmortems, and high-availability service improvements.
  • Work directly with manufacturing, supply chain, and flight operations teams to prototype and adopt operational tools.
  • Refine automated testing and deployment practices and mentor peers.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals with the ability to design maintainable systems, model data, and make sound technical tradeoffs.
  • Product-minded approach to understanding user needs, identifying root causes, and delivering pragmatic solutions.
  • Experience shipping high-impact features with measurable results such as reduced downtime, manual intervention, or production time.
  • Ability to define service health metrics, reliability goals, runbooks, and incident-review improvements.
  • Willingness to work regularly on site, including five days per week in an office, manufacturing floor, or test/commercial operations site when local.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for the internship and collaborate closely with hardware and operations stakeholders.
  • Fast learner comfortable working across Python, Go, PostgreSQL, React, Kafka, gRPC, AWS, Grafana, and Honeycomb.
  • Work authorization sponsorship is available; U.S. citizenship is not required.

Benefits

  • Full-time, in-person internship in South San Francisco from January through April 2027.
  • Hourly rate of $54 per hour.
