Responsibilities

Optimize query performance, indexes, locks, memory, disk usage, and latency across row-oriented and columnar database engines.
Maintain disaster recovery, RTO/RPO compliance, automated backup validation, point-in-time recovery, and data consistency.
Manage compaction, partitioning, file sizing, storage tiering, and analytical storage infrastructure.
Operate highly available production RDBMS clusters, including failover, replication, and zero-downtime maintenance.
Maintain and scale ClickHouse, BigQuery, and Apache Iceberg systems.
Build infrastructure automation for cluster provisioning, schema migrations, and metric alerting.

Requirements

4+ years of experience running production database infrastructure with deep expertise in PostgreSQL or MySQL.
Deep knowledge of ACID guarantees, WAL, checkpointing, recovery mechanics, concurrency control, transaction isolation, locking, MVCC, and database storage structures.
Experience optimizing and managing Google Cloud BigQuery partitioning, clustering, quotas, and reservation slots.
Experience with OLAP databases such as ClickHouse and BigQuery.
Strong Linux fundamentals, including I/O subsystems, page cache, buffer pools, disk alignment, asynchronous I/O, and memory management.
Experience using Python or Go to build database automation, operators, and CLI tooling.
Experience with Terraform and container orchestration.
Preferred qualifications include ClickHouse administration, Debezium or Kafka CDC pipelines, Apache Iceberg lakehouse management, schema migration tools such as gh-ost, Liquibase, or Bytebase, and familiarity with ClickHouse Keeper, Raft, or Paxos.
