Data Engineer - Platform Engineering in Others

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain reliable, secure, and scalable database platform infrastructure solutions.
  • Apply cloud infrastructure, networking, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD practices to operate data storage platforms.
  • Collaborate with Product and Analytics teams on orchestration, access, and metadata management.
  • Deliver code and infrastructure improvements that support the team roadmap.
  • Participate in technical discussions, documentation, on-call rotations, incident response, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain observability through metrics, logging, and tracing to support service-level objectives and availability targets.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience maintaining cloud-based infrastructure, particularly AWS.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes or EKS.
  • Proficiency with Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Competence in at least one programming language, with Python preferred.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or Jenkins.
  • Experience with data transformation tools, particularly dbt (Data Build Tool).
  • Expertise with workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking, security best practices, and observability tools including DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Knowledge of database internals, performance tuning, replication, failover, sharding, or clustering is a plus.
  • Backend engineering experience and familiarity with OpenMetadata are beneficial.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, ownership, problem-solving, and learning orientation.
