Responsibilities

Develop expertise in Airflow, data engineering, Kubernetes, and cloud engineering.
Solve challenging Apache Airflow problems for customers, including configuration optimization and identifying previously unknown bugs.
Spend up to 20% of time on side projects such as contributing to the open-source Airflow repository or developing internal monitoring and alerting systems.
Work directly with customers’ data engineers, system administrators, DevOps teams, and management.
Own the customer experience by prioritizing and resolving issues, meeting SLAs, and providing guidance toward production.
Provide feedback that can influence the direction of the Airflow project.
Help maintain 24x7 coverage through a six-hour pager period during the workday and participate in paid weekend on-call rotations.

Requirements

Data engineering background.
At least four years of experience with Python.
At least one year of experience administering Airflow and creating DAGs.
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containers.
Experience with distributed systems on a major cloud provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Ability to work autonomously and independently.
Strong written and verbal communication for customer interactions through the ticketing system and Zoom.
Experience mentoring junior team members.
Open-source contributions, customer support experience, SQL and PostgreSQL familiarity, and experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, dbt, or similar data engineering tools are advantageous.
